Coimbra

If “Coimbra is a lesson”, as the popular fado song says, Coimbra is firstly a lesson of Portuguese History. Here is the grave of Kings Afonso Henriques and Sancho I, the first Portuguese Kings.  The University of Coimbra (one of the oldest in the world (1290) is a unique city icon and the country. Coimbra is the city of students, love, fado and “saudade”! Coimbra is a fantastic visit!

Fátima

This small village developed greatly from the apparitions of Fatima, in the early twentieth century, becoming one of the major centers of the Marian cult in the world. The 1st appearance date of 1917 instead of the Cova da Iria, where the shrine is located today. The major manifestations of devotees take place on the 13th of May (day 12 at night with a procession of candles) and October 13. However, in between, every day 13 are of devotion.

Batalha

Town of Batalha developed alongside the Monastery of Santa Maria de Vitória, constructed in 1386 to keep a vow by Portuguese King Dom João I to the Virgin Mary that he would build it if Portugal defeated Castile at the Battle of Aljubarrota on 14th August 1385. Extravagant celebrations commemorating this victory are held next to the monastery in August of every year. The Monastery of Batalha is the main masterpiece of Portuguese Gothic.

 

Nazaré

Typical fishing town, Nazaré is nowadays a busy summer center that has kept its traditions connected to the sea. “Sítio” are the highest point of the village (which can be accessed by a lift) is undoubtedly your best viewpoint. The giant waves were famous and are annually news around the world!

The beach, trade, crafts and empathy of the places worth a visit!

Óbidos

Surrounded by a ring of medieval walls and crowned by the Moorish castle rebuilt by D. Dinis, who is now a hotel, Óbidos is one of the most perfect examples of our medieval fortress. We are talking about a beautiful village, which undoubtedly deserves a visit and a day well spent!

Costa de Prata

Finishing  this tour, presenting one of the highlights of our region: the beaches of the silver coast. There are so many, with many hours of sunshine! Figueira da Foz, Torch, Quiaios, Mira, Pedrogão, S. Pedro de Moel, Nazaré, Peniche, in short, the choice is vast and fabulous!
